Graduation and Retention

The University of Minnesota Twin Cities is proud of the unique educational opportunities that it provides to undergraduate students. As a comprehensive research university, the University offers a variety of educational resources for students in hundreds of different fields to ensure student success and graduation.

Four Year Graduation Plan

Most of the degree programs at the University are designed to be completed in four years. The four year graduation plan encourages students to plan ahead so the University can assure that the classes a student needs to graduate are available.

13-Credit Policy

All degree seeking students at the University of Minnesota are required to register for a minimum of 13 credits per semester. This requirement encourages all students to be full-time students and to progress toward timely graduation.

Mid-term Alerts

University Senate policy calls for providing mid-term alerts to students in 1xxx-level courses who appear to be in danger of receiving a D, F, or N for the course. Mid-term alerts are intended to provide timely feedback to students and encourage them to improve their performance during the remainder of the semester.

Course Access

The Office of the Vice Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Education can provide assistance for students to get into the courses they need. For more information, please contact Laurel Carroll, 612-624-1320, l-carr@umn.edu.
