Accreditation is the process of assuring and advancing the quality of the University's campuses, departments, and programs through reviews by outside agencies, such as the Higher Learning Commission.

Similarly, the University uses a standard set of criteria for its own academic program review and approval processes, when are implemented when proposals for new or changed academic programs are considered. The criteria for these processes parallel those used in collegiate and departmental accreditation.
