The University of Minnesota - Morris is ranked by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching among 217 national-level liberal arts colleges across the country that emphasize undergraduate education and award at least half their degrees in the liberal arts disciplines. Of these colleges, 21 are public institutions and the University of Minnesota - Morris was ranked third among them by U.S. News & World Report, a commercial publication. UMM is the only Midwestern institution in the top five publics.
